With the Rise of Corona Virus and imposition of Lockdown and now with India entering in the Second Phase of Unlock, it does not matter if the world is being accustomed to live with Corona, Politics has adapted the New Normal. Politics has adapted the fact that Corona is here to stay at least till there is a probable and acceptable vaccine and we cant give into it, especially not with the upcoming Bihar elections.
Bihar Elections likely to be held in October or November as the current term is ending on November 29, 2020. Now a letter issued to all 150 political parties in Bihar has brought a nervous feeling in the political circles of the state. The letter has directed the political parties to disclose reasons for giving tickets to candidates with criminal record.

During an important order in February the Apex court in India had issued a ruling that the political parties will need to inform why are they selecting candidates with criminal record
This directive from the Election Commission of India comes after the political activities are heating up and preparation for the elections pick up for the supposed elections to be held in October-November.
While the letter has been returned undelivered from 20 party headquarters as reported by the Indian Express,this is the first election in the country after the Apex court has issued this order.
RJD Spokesperson was quoted saying to the Indian Express that Supreme Court should clarify what kind of cases should be pending against the candidates and then take a stand while the ruling partner in state of Bihar the BJP has informed that it will abide as the per the Election Commission's directive.
With Covid-19 and this directive the election is going in different turns as this is the first election since the Covid-19 outbreak and there are no indications of the elections being postponed.
Let's hope there is some promising medicine or a vaccine before the state goes to poll and every Bihari could play its part in this great festival of democracy.
