Chinese Incursion in Galwan -1962

It is said that history always repeats itself. In 1962 the PLA of China under the rule of Mao Zedong followed a similar pattern as of today in 2020. Very few of us know, what exactly happened and how things turned out in 1962. Below is a short version explained via the timeline.

Many experts have opinionated that India should be careful and should not let the Guard down for a single moment. While many Indians celebrate the Chinese soldiers stepping back we must look at the timeline and be sure to understand that while we celebrate the disengagement, it is possible that China might be planning something else , something different and something bigger.

June 14, 1962 - Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru says Chinese have entered Indian territory.

June 20, 1962 - Notes are exchanged over incursions in Ladakh and NEFA

NEFA - (The North-East Frontier Agency, originally known as the North-East Frontier Tracts, was one of the political divisions in British India and later the Republic of India until 20 January 1972, when it became the Union Territory of Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Assam.)

June 23, 1962 - India reiterates it will not accept Chinese demands to withdraw posts in Daulat Beg Oldie, asks for mutual withdrawal of forces

July 11, 1962 - Indian Army post in Galwan valley is surrounded by Chinese troops

July 12, 1962 - Ministry of External Affairs says Indian troops will retaliate if attacked in Ladakh

July 14, 1962 - Chinese troops tighten encirclement; India warns of firing in self-defence

July 15, 1962 - Chinese troops withdraw some distance from the Indian post

July 16, 1962 - Nehru praises tenacity of Army jawans

July 17, 1962 - Chinese troops withdraw 200 yards from Indian post in Galwan; China complain of Indian posts in Pangong Lake area

July 23, 1962 - First incidents of firing since 1959 Hot Springs incident

July 25, 1962 - Chinese troops attempt to sever Indian lines of communication and supply to Galwan post

August 23, 1962 - India sets terms for talks, sends fresh troops to relieve those at Galwan post

September 13, 1962 - Focus shifts to NEFA as Chinese launch full-scale invasion across MacMohan Line

The events are a clear indication that the pull  back of Chinese soldiers might be a trap while they might be preparing for a large scale attack or invasion. 

Country stands with our Brave Soldiers who looked China in the Eye and gave a clear message that

we won't pick a war with you but we will not give into you or your tricks or your power in any condition.

We just have to be sure that that we are prepared when time comes as we cannot let History repeat its course with us.
